WHAT IS MENSTRUAL CUPS 👇

It's a flexible cup designed for use inside the vagina during your period to collect menstrual blood. The cup actually collects the menstrual flow rather than absorbing it like tampons or pads do.A menstrual cup collects menstrual fluid instead of absorbing it, and is cleaned and reused, allowing one cup to last as long as ten years. Menstrual cups have been shown to leak less on average, have fewer health risks than standard disposable products, and are generally comfortable to wear. Menstrual cups are made out of medical grade silicone which is healthy for a women’s health, even vagina. They vary in sizes too. It goes from small to large, a woman can choose her size based on the size of her vagina and also considering the fact if she has ever given birth vaginally. Menstrual cups are mostly extra flexible, but that depends upon the brand. The smaller the size, the more it would be flexible. Some companies offer a firmness level too when it comes to menstrual cups.

PRICE ⏩ 435/-

EVERTEEN MENSTRUAL CUP IS AVAILABLE IN TWO SIZES:

SMALL CUP (S): Recommended for low cervix with light-to-normal flow, the small cup has a capacity to hold Menstrual fluid upto 23ml.

LARGE CUP (L): Recommended for medium to high cervix with normal-to-heavy flow, the large cup has a capacity to hold menstrual fluid upto 30ml.

HOW TO USE:

To use a menstrual cup, squat with your legs apart, fold the cup using a "C fold" or "punch-down fold," and gently insert the cup into the opening of your vagina at an approximate 45-degree angle until it pops open and feels comfortable. If inserted correctly, it leaves no space for leakage or stains. Blood gets collected in the cup which can be emptied, cleaned and reused again. Those who have heavy flow should always go for menstrual cups as the capacity is more than tampons and pads. After 12 hours, you can are advised to check the cups by taking it out and watching how much blood is collected. The cup is removed by reaching up to the stem of the cup in order to find the base. Simply pulling on the stem is not recommended to remove the cup, as pulling it down will create suction. The base of the cup is pinched to release the seal, and then the cup is removed. After emptying, the cup should be rinsed or wiped and then reinserted. It can be washed with a mild soap, and sterilized in boiling water for a few minutes at the end of the cycle.Like the rest of other fancy things, menstrual cups too are available in an array of colors.. Most of the cups are colourless, transparent silicone. The dyes used for coloring the cups are safe for usage, especially in sensitive areas. Translucent cups lose their initial appearance faster than coloured ones – they tend to get yellowish stains with regular use. The shade of a coloured cup may change over time, though stains are often not as obvious on coloured cups. Stains on any colour of cup can often be removed or at least lightened by soaking the cup in diluted hydrogen peroxide and/or leaving it out in the sun for a few hours.

HOW TO REMOVE MENSTRUAL CUP 👇

Removing the menstrual cup is easier than inserting, however note that it may take a while for you to get used to the menstrual cup initially.

Wash your hand with soap and warm water after that sit in a squat position, which will make it easier to remove the cup. Exert downward pressure with your pelvic muscles as during delivery to push the menstrual cup Travel down outward. Continue exerting downward pressure until you can reach the stem of the cup with your fingers. By holding the stem, just wiggle the cup till you get a better grip on the actual base of cup. Don't pull the stem to remove your cup as it can increase the suction seal or cause the stem to break the vacuum caused due to suction. Slowly pull one side of the cup out & then till it slightly to release the other side. The menstrual cup will come out. Empty the contents into the toilet, wash your menstrual cup with Everteen Natural Intimate Wash and warm water. Rinse it thoroughly before reusing it.

MY TAKE👇

When I first heard about the menstrual cup many years ago, my initial reaction was ‘oh god I would never’ and then last month I received period box from brand Everteen and I am really excited waiting for my periods. since I’ve always wished for a better alternative to nasty sanitary pads and tampons, I thought it was time to give it a shot. I hate the general discomfort from having synthetic materials in and around my privates, both pads and tampons get expensive quickly, and above all, both are an environmental disaster right from production to disposal. So I received my Everteen in the bloggermailbox, and used it during my last period. I tested it rigorously. I attended two medical conference, got on two flights, and took one overnight bus during my period and it fared fantastically. It wasn’t as messy as I was afraid it would be, nor was it difficult to use. The menstrual cup works by creating a seal inside the vagina and collecting blood instead of absorbing it. it's soft, easy to insert once I learned how and extremely forgettable (in a good way). The cup holds up to 8 hours flow even on heavy days, and up to twelve towards the end of your period so you only need to empty it, rinse it and reinsert it a couple of times each day. All you need is access to running water. If you’re a heavy bleeder or you suffer from clotting, I couldn’t recommend it more. The menstrual cup is also extremely safe to use. It’s devoid of fragrances, rayon, bleach and other chemicals. It doesn’t cause nappy rash or soreness. Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is not a side effect.Best of all, it’s very eco friendly. Using a menstrual cup will keep 10000 pads and tampons out of landfills and the ocean for every woman out there. (This statistic blows my mind.) A nice bonus is that it will always be handy so there's no need for late night chemist runs. Everteen menstrual cup is really amazing and soft, very comfortable for use.

PROS OF MENSTRUAL CUPS:

✅All the blood released is collected in the menstrual cup, so there is no chance of leakage

✅Menstrual cups are more hygienic than tampons and pads, as a research suggested that pads tend to absorb all the water content from the vagina making it dry and favourable for bacterial breeding

✅They can go a long way, upto 8-10 years

✅You save a lot of money too

✅This cup can allow a woman to know more accurately about the kind of blood being released during her monthly cycles, about which she can speak to her doctor.

✅No menstrual odor.

✅No dryness.

✅No discomfort.

✅12 hours protection against menstrual fluid.

✅ Freedom to Perform all your activity yoga, dance, swim etc.

✅No skin irritation.

CONS OF MENSTRUAL CUPS:

• Due to high prices of menstrual cups, women from low income background cannot afford to buy these

• You cannot wear this for a long journey as you find no place to sterilise it and wear it again. You’ll have to consider pads in such cases as they can be trashed quickly

• Some women find it painful while inserting menstrual cups into their vagina, no matter how flexible it is

• Cleaning menstrual cups in public place may be a problem

• Insertion products are unacceptable as per some cultural and religious norms

• Women with pelvic organ prolapse may not be able to use menstrual cups (or tampons) comfortably or safely.
